Edesia is a nonprofit, social enterprise on a mission to end malnutrition globally. Since we opened our doors in 2010, we have reached over 24 million children across 62 countries with the life-saving foods we make 24/7 here in Rhode Island in partnership with UNICEF, World Food Programme, and USAID. Our dedicated team of over 150 hails from over 26 countries. Every day we work together to reach children caught in humanitarian crises worldwide and need mission-driven, energetic, passionate problem solvers to join our team.


As the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will be at the forefront of our mission, leading operational excellence that directly impacts the delivery of life-saving food to those in need worldwide. Your strategic leadership will drive our daily business operations, ensuring that our processes are finely tuned to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. In this pivotal role, you collaborate closely with the CEO and executive team to align our organizational strategies with our overarching goal of global impact. Your track record of transformative leadership and tangible results will be instrumental in guiding us toward greater success.

Reporting directly to the Founder/CEO, you will spearhead initiatives that prioritize our mission and drive meaningful change. As a champion of our vision, you will cultivate a culture of excellence, ensuring that every aspect of our operations reflects our unwavering commitment to quality and efficiency.


As the Chief Operating Officer at Edesia Nutrition, you'll be the driving force behind our mission to deliver life-saving food to those in need worldwide. Here's how you'll make a difference:

  • Strategic Visionary: Develop and implement enterprise level short-term and long-term strategies that not only achieve organizational goals but are fiscally responsible and resonate with our mission to nourish communities globally.
  • Leadership and Development: Mentor and develop department heads and teams to accomplish shared objectives, helping develop and execute comprehensive business plans and strategic roadmaps to drive organizational growth.
  • Problem Solver: Address and navigate challenges related to enterprise needs and evolving demands in the emergency disaster business, while proactively identifying and resolving enterprise issues.
  • Enterprise Growth: Drive creativity and idea exploration, champion sustainability, develop and test business models, and lead sales and marketing strategies to accelerate organizational growth and success.
  • Operational Excellence: Support process optimization, understanding financial and market dynamics, communicating strategic direction, identifying key focus areas, forecasting partner/customer needs, and inspiring teams towards ongoing enhancement and transformative evolution.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead organization-wide initiatives to continuously refine processes, boosting productivity and efficiency.
  • Risk Management: Act as a key resource for the CFO, helping identify and address potential risks to protect our interests and ensure seamless business continuity across domestic and international operations while ensuring fiscally responsible practices.
  • Compliance Champion: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, maintaining our integrity and reputation as we expand our reach globally.


  • MBA or equivalent experience in food manufacturing, international business development, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of senior/executive leadership experience.
  • Proven success in process improvement and change management. Ability to manage across the enterprise, think like an owner, manage cross functional teams and possess visionary leadership.
  • Results-driven with a "can-do" mindset, emphasizing accountability and positive outcomes.
  • Strong project management skills with a history of successful execution.
  • Motivational leader focused on staff and leadership development.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills, able to work independently while keeping teams informed.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines effectively.
  • Deep understanding of operational principles and best practices.
  • Problem-solving abilities and strategic mindset for operational excellence.
  • Dedication to upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

  • General office environment. High utilization of office equipment, phone, computer, etc. Occasionally works in the production and warehouse areas. Ability to work remotely, as needed or requested. Domestic/international travel may be required up to 15% of time.
