JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Maintenance Technician I to ensure our production and packaging equipment operate smoothly. This role requires strong mechanical skills, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair equipment, and support continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment (pumps, motors, conveyors, compressors, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues using diagnostic tools/software.
  • Keep production and packaging lines running with minimal downtime.
  • Record and track maintenance work in the CMMS system.
  • Communicate equipment condition and recommend service schedules.
  • Manage spare parts and tools inventory.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area (5S standards).
  • Follow all safety, GMP, and SOP guidelines.
  • Support production teams when needed.
  • Work flexible hours, including overtime or on-call as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • Strong mechanical skills; basic to intermediate electrical knowledge (low & high voltage).
  • Ability to disassemble/rebuild pumps, valves, and other equipment.
  • Familiar with packaging and processing machines (carton formers, conveyors, mixers, wrappers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety procedures (Lockout/Tagout, confined space, powered lifts).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, CMMS).
Preferred:
  • Experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing (FDA regulated).
  • Familiarity with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), VFDs, servo motors, sensors.
  • Experience with heating loops, boilers, robotic case packers, palletizers, or liquid filling systems.
  • Understanding of GMP standards.
  • Forklift certified (or ability to be certified).
  • Experience with HVAC, compressed air, and nitrogen systems.
  • OSHA Lockout/Tagout certified.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Food manufacturing environment (peanut processing).
  • Fast-paced, machine uptime is critical.
