Supfina Machine Company is seeking a part-time HR Manager to work at its facility at 181 Circuit Drive, North Kingston, RI.

The company has an employee base of approx. 25 employees, fairly split between exempt and non-exempt.

An experienced HR Manager is needed for this position, with a workweek of 2 days,  approx.14 to 16 hrs week.  There is flexibility as to what days would be worked, and there is some opportunity for remote work.  The position will be non-exempt and, although part time, a strong benefit package is provided.

Position Summary

The HR Manager will handle all aspects of Human Resources practices including overseeing employee relations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and administering employee-related services such as payroll and benefits.  The HR Manager will assist in the planning, development, coordination and implementation of  policies ensuring legal compliance. The role involves working directly with the President of Supfina Machine Company.

Essential duties

- Sources and recruits new hires; helps with interviews, hires and works collaboratively to onboard new staff;

- Administers, oversees, or collaborates on the administration of human resource programs including compensation, benefits and leave;

-Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy;

- Works collaboratively to offboard departing employees;

- Ensures the company compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations;

- Completes the weekly, quarterly and annual HR Administrative responsibilities incl filing of OSHA, Creditable Coverage notices, Workers Compensation annual audit etc.

- Payroll management incl input of time and running reports.

Skills and Experience

Experience in the following areas:

  • Benefits – responsible for the communication, open enrollment rollout and implementation;
  • Recruitment - all phases of recruitment, beginning with the job description review through to onboarding;
  • Advising management on how to manage employee issues;
  • Annual review of Employee Handbook and policy preparation and implementation when needed;
  • 401k Retirement – support and communication to employees re: any updates or changes to the company portfolio;
  • Management of Worker’s compensation, disability and medical leave.

Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail;
  • Effective interpersonal skills.

Education, License and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field required;
  • At least 5 years of human resource experience required;
  • Certifications such as PHR and/or SHRM-CP preferred.

Pay range is: $45-$55 per hour.  Benefits include PTO, paid holidays and 4% match in 401k with immediate vesting.
